wednesday october 8th - JAMESTOWN, KY. - a western kentucky university student from russell county was found
dead on the western campus yesterday. authorities say 25 year old cody wilson of jamestown was found
unresponsive. an autopsy will be performed. authorities are still investigating.

wednesday october 8th - FRANKFORT, KY. - more than 67,000 kentuckians that may have money coming to them
from the internal revenue service have until october 15th to claim it. last year, congress passed an economic stimulus
package that provided most low and moderate income americans a check for several hundred dollars. according to
the center on budget and policy priority a total of 20,149,400 dollars remains unclaimed by 67,000 kentucky
taxpayers. these taxpayers must file a 2007 federal income tax return by the end of the day october 15th to get their
stimulus check. those who need help filing a return can call the IRS toll free at 1-800-829-1040.

wednesday october 8th - SPRINGFIELD, KY. - a washington county man has been indicted on drug charges.
according to the united states attorney's office 65 year old john robert boone of springfield was indicted by a federal
grand jury in louisville on charges of manufacturing and trafficking in marijuana.

tuesday october 7th - CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - the campbellsville city council met in regular session last night. the
council passed a resolution in favor of naming a street in honor of miss kentucky, emily cox of campbellsville. a
committee will make a recommendation on what street will be named in cox's honor. also last night halloween trick or
treat hours for the city of campbellsville were officially set for october 31st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the council accepted
the resignation of virginia flanagan from the renaissance board and voted in favor of appointing karen patton to fill the
remainder of the term which will run through august of 2009.

monday october 6th - GREENSBURG / CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - two break-ins reported in the area this past
weekend. reports say an undetermined amount of money was taken from both the dairy queen restaurant in
greensburg and due dirty laundry in campbellsville. authorities are still investigating.

monday october 6th - DUNNVILLE, KY. - one person taken to a lexington hospital after a one vehicle crash yesterday
in casey county. according to kentucky state police a 1989 ford mustang driven by 29 year old bryan luttrell of
dunnville ran off the road and struck a tree. he was taken to the university of kentucky medical center in lexington. the
accident happened just east of dunnville on thomas ridge road in casey county.

monday october 6th - LEBANON, KY. - one person treated after a one vehicle accident yesterday in marion county.
according to kentucky state police 29 year old terrence nicole thompson of lebanon was operating a 2003 GMC that
went out of control, off the roadway and overturned several times before coming to rest on its top. she was taken to
springview medical center in lebanon, treated and released. the accident happened on highway 1157 in marion
county.

sunday october 5th - LEBANON, KY. - one person taken to a louisville hospital after a one vehicle crash in marion
county yesterday. according to kentucky state police a 2004 chevrolet driven by 18 year old dustin weber of cox's
creek ran off the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. weber was taken to university of louisville hospital.
the accident happened in the limits of lebanon near the wal-mart supercenter.  

sunday october 5th - LEBANON, KY. - a washington county man has been arrested on theft charges in connection
with a case in marion county. according to lebanon police 26 year old william l. smith of springfield has been arrested
and charged with theft by unlawful taking in connection with the theft of four checks from NESCO in marion county.
total value nearly 1,500 dollars. it's being alleged the checks were issued to smith for time he turned in that was not
actually worked.

saturday october 4th - FRANKFORT, KY. - the deadline to register to vote is coming up this monday. anyone that
would like to vote in the november 4th general election will need to be registered to vote by the close of business at
their county clerk's office this monday october 6th. anyone mailing their voter registration card in must have a
postmark of october 6th or earlier. anyone that will be atleast 18 years of age on or before november 4th is eligible to
register and vote in the november general election.  

saturday october 4th - GREENSBURG, KY. - one person taken to the hospital for treatment after a one vehicle crash
in green county yesterday. according to kentucky state police 20 year old curtis parrish of magnolia was driving a
2002 ford focus that went out of control off the roadway and overturned. parrish stating that he swerved to miss a
deer. he was taken to jane todd crawford hospital. treated and released. the accident happened 8 miles north of
greensburg on coakley road in green county.

friday october 3rd - FRANKFORT, KY. - preliminary statistics indicate that the august unemployment rate in kentucky
rose in 113 kentucky counties between august of 2007 and august of 2008 and fell in seven. woodford county had
the lowest unemployment rate in the state in august of 2008 at 4.7 percent. magoffin county had the highest
unemployment rate in the state in august of 2008 at 10.7 percent. the statistics are compiled by the kentucky office of
employment and training.  

friday october 3rd - JAMESTOWN, KY. - a dug roundup in russell county yesterday morning resulted in 28 people
being taken into custody. twenty seven were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, 1 was charged with
receiving stolen property, 26 were from russell county, 1 from adair county, 1 from casey county. the arrests were the
result of a year long undercover investigation into illegal drug activity in and around the russell county area.

thursday october 2nd - CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - for the 17th consecutive semester campbellsville university has
achieved record enrollment with 2,601 students. according to dave walters, vice president for admissions and student
services, 2,405 students were enrolled for the fall 2007 semester. this year's first time, full time freshman class
enrollment totals a record 448 students. there have been 176 students who have transferred to campbellsville
university this year. campbellsville university's undergraduate enrollment is 2,239 while graduate enrollment is at 362.
campbellsville university currently has students from 93 kentucky counties, 27 states and 31 foreign countries.  

thursday october 2nd - CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - an opportunity for flu shots tomorrow in taylor county. the taylor

wednesday october 1st - LEBANON, KY. - a japanese automotive supplier will be opening a manufacturing operation
in marion county. state economic development officials announced yesterday that fuel total systems will build a
140,000 square foot building on 20 acres in marion county to house an operation that will create 100 new full time
jobs. fuel total systems california corporation is a subsidiary of FTS Co., Ltd of japan. the plant will manufacture and
supply automotive fuel tank systems and related components.

wednesday october 1st - LEBANON, KY. - a taylor county man was taken to the hospital for treatment after a two
vehicle accident yesterday in marion county. according to kentucky state police a 1995 ford aspire driven by 46 year
old mark johnson of campbellsville ran into the rear of a 2005 GMC yukon that was stopped in the road due to road
construction. johnson was taken to springview medical center in lebanon for treatment. no other injuries were
reported. the accident happened around 1:45 yesterday afternoon 4 miles west of lebanon on highway 68.

tuesday september 30th - FRANKFORT, KY. - preliminary statistics indicate that 16 people died on kentucky
roadways last week. through this past sunday 567 people had been killed in accidents on kentucky roads in 2008.
that is 79 fewer than reported for the same time period in 2007. fourteen of the fatalities involved motor vehicles. two
motorcycle fatalities occurred in carlisle and madison counties.  fatal motor vehicle crashes took place in boyle, floyd,
hardin, larue, leslie, madison, marion, taylor and warren counties.  alcohol was suspected as a contributing factor in
five of the crashes.

tuesday september 30th - FRANKFORT, KY. - the deadline to register to vote in the november 4th general election is
less than a week away. county clerks will be accepting voter registration cards until the close of business at their
office monday october 6th. a postmark of october 6th is also required for all mail-in voter registration appplications.

monday september 29th - GREENSBURG, KY. - a greensburg woman was charged and a young child was taken to
the hospital after a one vehicle crash yesterday afternoon in green county. according to kentucky state police the
accident happened when a 1985 toyota corolla operated by 23 year old jamie lynn blankenship of greensburg ran off
the road and struck a tree. she was treated and released at west lake regional hospital and was also charged with
driving under the influence and use of an improperly installed child restraint device. a passenger in the car, 4 year old
richard blankenship of greensburg, was taken to kosair hospital in louisville for treatment of injuries. the accident
happened around 2:30 yesterday afternoon about 6 miles north of columbia on cedar grove road in adair county.

monday september 29th - LEBANON, KY. - a marion county man was killed in a one car accident yesterday morning
in marion county. according to kentucky state police a 1999 mercury driven by 62 year old david sharp of lebanon ran
off the road and struck a tree before coming to rest on its side in a creek. he was pronounced dead at the scene. the
accident happened just after midnight yesterday morning just over a mile west of lebanon on saint rose road in
marion county.

monday september 29th - CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - one person was treated for minor injuries after a motorcycle
crash yesterday in taylor county. according to the taylor county sheriff's office a 2003 kawasaki operated by 24 year
old cassie bertram of campbellsville went out of control on new columbia road in campbellsville due to being disrupted
by wind from passing cars. bertram was treated at the scene but did not require transport to the hospital. the accident
happened just after 6 yesterday evening.  

sunday september 28th - CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. -  a taylor county man was taken to a lexington hospital after a
motorcycle accident yesterday evening in taylor county. according to the taylor county sheriff's office a 2006
kawasaki operated by 19 year old cory graham of campbellsville ran off the road, struck a metal t-post and a fence.
he was taken to the university of kentucky medical center. graham stated that he had to take evasive action to avoid
hitting a car that was in his lane of travel. the crash happened around 6:45 last night on merrimac road in taylor
county.

sunday september 28th - LEBANON, KY. - a marion county man has been arrested on drug charges. according to
lebanon police 40 year old richard allen calhoun of lebanon has been arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine
and possession of drug paraphenalia. the arrest was made on west martin luther king avenue in lebanon.

sunday september 28th - CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - the taylor county marching cardinals participated in the 54th
annual marching eagle invitational yesterday at ohio county high school in hartford, ky. in the preliminary round of
competition the cardinals received second place in class AAA and the best percussion award in class AAA. the taylor
county percussion section received the trophy for best overall percussion among the twelve bands competing. in the
evening's finals competition taylor county received fourth place overall. the taylor county marching cardinals will have
this coming weekend off before hosting the taylor county marching invitational on october 11th.

friday september 26th - CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - eight people were taken to the hospital after a two vehicle accident
last night in taylor county. according to the taylor county sheriff's office 18 year old amanda lawson of burnside was
operating a 1997 plymouth on lone valley road approaching the junction with 55 south when she failed to stop at a
stop sign resulting in a collision with a 1995 pontiac van driven by 19 year old chris clark of campbellsville who was
south bound on highway 55. both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment. three passengers in the lawson
vehicle, 82 year old raymond tichenor, 56 year old brenda durham and 4 year old makayla porter along with three
passengers in the clark vehicle, 18 year old julia leroy, 20 year old richie bright and 26 year old sarah bright, were
also taken to the hospital for treatment. the accident happened just after 9 o'clock last night.

friday september 26th - LEBANON, KY. - police in lebanon are investigating a break-in that took place on north forest
street in lebanon. investigators say over 1,500 dollars worth of personal property was taken which included several

thursday september 25th - COLUMBIA, KY. - two people were taken to the hospital after a two vehicle crash
yesterday evening in adair county. according to the adair county sheriff's office 24 year old kristi burton of jamestown
was operating a 1995 saturn that crossed over the center line of the highway into the path of a 2000 jeep wrangler
driven by 39 year old kimberly rose of columbia. burton was flown to university of louisville hospital. rose was taken to
the university of kentucky medical center in lexington. the accident happened 13 miles east of columbia on highway
206 in adair county just after 6 o'clock last night.

wednesday september 24th - COLUMBIA, KY. - an adair county man has been arrested on drug charges. according
to the adair county sheriff's office 33 year old richard goble of columbia was arrested and charged with possession of
marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphenalia. the arrest was made after the
execution of a search warrant at a residence in the portland community of adair county yesterday.

wednesday september 24th - FRANKFORT, KY. - kentucky's unemployment rate for the month of august rose to 6.8
percent from the july rate of 6.7 percent. the august 2007 jobless rate in the state was 5.5 percent. meanwhile the
nationwide jobless rate for the month of august rose to 6.1 percent from the july rate of 5.7 percent.

tuesday september 23rd - CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - two people were taken to the hospital after a two vehicle crash
yesterday in larue county. according to kentucky state police a vehicle driven by 18 year old genesis feather of
campbellsville crossed over the center line of the roadway and collided head on with a pickup truck driven by 72 year
old david marcum of magnolia. both drivers were taken to university of louisville hospital. the accident happened on
highway 210 near the taylor-larue county line in larue county around 7:30 yesterday morning.

tuesday september 23rd - LEBANON, KY. - a marion county man was taken to a louisville hospital after a one vehicle
accident yesterday in marion county. according to kentucky state police the accident happened when a car driven by
52 year old robert fogle of lebanon ran off the road and struck a tree. fogle was not injured but was charged with
driving under the influence and wanton endangerment. he was lodged in the marion county jail. a passenger in the
car, 40 year old jerry johnson of lebanon, was taken to university of louisville hospital. the accident happened on
sulphur springs road in marion county.
